In compassionately lending his time through these service initiatives, Dr. Desai enjoys seeing the direct human impact vision-restoring procedures such as refractive cataract surgery and corneal transplantation can have on patients’ quality of life. He has performed hundreds of pro bono surgeries to those in need both in the US and abroad. By recruiting and training fellow doctors and volunteers around the world and integrating service into residency and fellowship curricula at training hospitals, Dr. Desai has ensured that this legacy of compassionate service will flourish and spread.
