Cynthia Matossian, MD, FACS, is the founder and medical director of Matossian Eye Associates, an integrated ophthalmology and optometry practice.
Dr. Matossian started her practice in 1987, with 1 office and 2 employees. Today, the practice has grown to 14 doctors, and over 90 employees, working out of 3 offices in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Together with a group of eye surgeons, Dr. Matossian also developed and built a freestanding ambulatory surgery center.
As a specialist in dry eye and ocular surface disease, Dr. Matossian is a consultant to numerous pharmaceutical and medical device companies. She is on the leadership team of the American College of Eye Surgeons, the NY IOL Implant Society, and Women in Ophthalmology. She serves on multiple editorial boards and has published numerous articles. She also participates in national and international meetings, often assuming key leadership roles and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology (Adjunct) at Temple University School of Medicine.
In 2017, Dr. Matossian received the prestigious Ophthalmic World Leaders Visionary Award and was included in the Ocular Surgery News’ Premier Surgeon 300 list—an elite group of 300 premium refractive cataract surgeons in the US. She also has been named one of the Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs in New Jersey and one of New Jersey and Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business.
